Al-Huda School Alumna Shares Her Story on How Volunteering at The Da’wah Table Landed Her a Job

    You're Hired

The teachers and staff at Al-Huda School have strong, on-going connections with Al-Huda School alumni, and the entire community at Dar- us-Salaam sincerely shares in the joy of every alumni success story. The following came to Heartbeats from Al-Huda School Islamic Studies teacher Sr. Dalia Elamawy:

“I recently saw one of our Al-Huda School alumni who had only graduated a couple of years ago.

“She told me that she is very active on the Da’wah committee at her University, where they set up a table once a week for 4 hours and tell passersby about Islam and answer any questions they may have.

“As most students do, she added that particular activity to her resume. She was applying to some Teaching Assistant positions on campus and got an interview. She landed one interview and the interviewer asked her to tell her more about this Da’wah activity she does on campus. So the student tells her what it’s about, and they proceed to the next part of the interview and everything goes smoothly. Guess what- she gets the job!

“One day, when she’s at her job, the lady who hired her says, ‘By the way, do you know why I hired you? Because of that thing you do once a week where you answer people’s questions about your religion. It shows me that you can think quickly and make decisions on the spot!’

This just goes to show that when you dedicate your life for Allah, even by just taking out a few hours of your week to represent and teach people about Islam — Allah will fill your life with khayr. He will rectify the affairs of both your dunya and akihrah.

    — Sister Dalia Elamawy
    Al-Huda School Islamic Studies teacher.

“And when you forsake your religion for the dunya, Allah puts poverty before your eyes — you may gain some of the dunya but you will still be left unsatiated by it, and you may lose your akhirah in the process too.

    الدُّنْيَا كَظِلِّكَ، إِنْ طَلَبْتَهَا هَرَبَتْ مِنْكَ، وَإِنْ هَرَبْتَ مِنْهَا تَبِعَتْكَ

“The dunya is like your shadow: if you chase it,
it runs away from you; but if you turn away from it, it follows you.”
