Sisters are taking the lead at Dar-us-Salaam’s Aqabah Karate, with six new black belts on the block! Four sisters earned their 1st degree black belts, one moved up to 2nd degree black belt, and our instructor Sr. Ayesha Akhtar moved up to 3rd degree black belt—a first in Aqabah Karate history!
“Third degree black belt achieved by instructor Ayesha is not the highest rank, but it is the highest rank achieved by an Aqabah student who has been training here since white belt,” said Aqabah Karate instructor Brother Muhib Rahman. “Most of these [sisters] have been training here since they were elementary school age, and four have memorized the Quran also. We’re incredibly proud of all of them, Alhamdulillah!”
Congratulations to our six new black belts: Ayesha Akhtar, Maryam Muhib, Zahra Jones, Fatoumata Barry, Maryam Baqai, and Janaan Siddiqui! May Allah allow you to use your strength as a force for good, Ameen.
