    Dar-us-Salaam: Planning Your Everlasting Legacy

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “When a person dies, his/her acts come to an end, but three: Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), beneficial knowledge, or a pious child who prays for the deceased.”

    Get Started

At Dar-us-Salaam, we believe in building a legacy that lasts beyond our time.

Through Planned Giving, you have the opportunity to make a lasting impact by ensuring that your wealth continues to support Islamic education, community services, and the next generation of Muslims—long after you’ve returned to Allah.

Planned Gifts to Dar-us-Salaam allow donors to designate part of their estate as Sadaqah Jariyah.

Ensuring that their charity continues to benefit them even after passing. These gifts can include cash, real estate, stocks, life insurance, or other assets.

Islamic guidelines permit up to 30% of your estate to be donated to charitable causes.

Ensuring that your wealth contributes to both your akhirah (hereafter) and the well-being of the Muslim ummah.

    How It Works

Include Dar-us-Salaam in your will or trust (see sample language below).
Choose an unrestricted gift or direct it toward a specific cause (education, community services, social programs, etc.).
Indicate a specific amount or a percentage of the remaining balance in your estate or trust.

Sample Gift Language for Your Will or Trust

Planned Giving to Dar-us-Salaam ensures that your commitment to Islamic education, service, and community development continues for generations. A bequest is simple to arrange, does not alter your current lifestyle, and can be adjusted at any time.

    Residual Gift Language

A residual bequest comes to Dar-us-Salaam after your estate expenses and specific bequests are fulfilled:

“I give, bequeath, and devise all (or __ percent) of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate to Dar-us-Salaam, a non-profit organization located in College Park, Maryland, for the general and educational purposes of said organization.”

    Specific Gift Language

You may designate a specific amount from your estate:

“I give, bequeath, and devise to Dar-us-Salaam, a non-profit organization located in College Park, Maryland, the sum of $_______ (or __ percent of the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate) to be used to support __________ (e.g., Al-Huda School, Qur’an Institute, community programs, or another initiative). In the event the need for this support no longer exists, Dar-us-Salaam is authorized to use this bequest in a manner that aligns with the spirit of this gift and the best interests of the organization.”

    Customized Language

If you or your attorney would like personalized beneficiary language aligned with your goals, we are happy to assist you in structuring your planned gift.
