Bring your entire family for a short getaway to the Carderock Recreation Area in Potomac, Maryland. We’ll take a gentle stroll along the river and marvel at the beauty of Allah’s creation — orange and gold leaves surrounding emerald waters! There is no entry fee, and there are two main parking areas as well as road parking.

Dar-us-Salaam will be there to welcome you at 10:30am in shaa Allah. There is no eating area in this part of the park, only trails for walking and hiking. We will have snack bags for everyone, so pick one up on your way back from your stroll.

When:

Saturday, October 24 from 10:30am-1:30pm

Where:

C&O Canal Towpath — the portion which goes through Carderock Recreation Area in Potomac, Maryland. The best way to find this using your GPS is to put “Great Falls Parking” in the search. NOTE: Do NOT put “Great Falls Park” or “Great Falls.” You must put “Great Falls Parking” or else you will end up at Great Falls Park. We are NOT walking at Great Falls Park! Another landmark is the Old Anglers Inn at 10801 Macarthur Blvd, Potomac, MD 20854. The Great Falls Parking is across the street from Old Anglers Inn.

What to Bring:

Good walking shoes and a light jacket depending on the weather. Don’t bring a lot of food; there are no trash cans at the park, and there are no large areas to sit down and eat. The area is for walkers, hikers, bikers, and kayakers. Strollers for children are fine!

How Long is the Stroll?

As long as you want it to be! After 1.5 miles on the C&O Canal Towpath, there is a bridge you can cross to take you 1.5 miles back to the parking area for a total of about 3 miles. Or, you can stroll as long as you wish, just remember you have to walk back to the parking area!
