The College Park City Council has made Maryland history. By the mercy of Allah and the support of both Muslim and non-Muslim allies, the month of January has been officially declared Muslim American Heritage Month. Our own Dar-us-Salaam community member and Mayor of College Park, Br. Fazlul Kabir signed the proclamation on the 27th of January, 2026, at City Hall.
This recognition honors the contributions of Muslim Americans, past and present, and reflects a shared commitment to diversity, respect, and understanding. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who showed up, spoke up, and stood in support of Muslim voices. Your presence truly made a difference. Jazakum Allahu Khairan.

This milestone reminds us that our community has been shaping this nation for generations. With this honor comes responsibility. As members of this ummah, we are called to reflect the character and teachings of the Prophet ﷺ, not only in our worship, but in our everyday lives.
At Al-Huda School and Al-Huda Global School, our students are already preparing to make history in fields like technology, medicine, education, mental health, and even sports. Our role is to support them, guide them, and hold them close, while ensuring their connection to their deen remains strong. To be there when they struggle. To cheer them on when they succeed. And to never stop encouraging them to dream big.
This month is not just about remembering history. It is about building it together for the generations to come, In sha Allah. May Allah allow us to do more good and spread the word of Islam in a positive light!
