Over the past year, the courtyard at Darus- Salaam has been undergoing major renovations as an initiative that was led by our Student Government Association at Al-Huda School. During their annual school fundraiser, our students managed to raise over $240,000 for their new courtyard over the last two years! The project’s goal is to turn the courtyard into an outdoor cafeteria and multi-purpose space, as well as an extension to the Musallah during busy times like Ramadan and Eid.
“Currently, the courtyard permit is undergoing the approval process from the local government, which we hope to receive very soon,” said Brother Zahir Hussain, head of our Building Department at Dar-us-Salaam.
Then we need the community’s help to raise another $100,000 to be able to clear the foundation, pour the new foundation, and waterproof the courtyard. This is an essential step before we can get started with installing the new pergola. We have digital renderings to show what the courtyard will look like once finished, in shaa Allah.”
