A Journey of 16 Years
Memorizing the entire Qur’an is a dream achievement for many of us, and something which we dedicate our whole lives to making come true. Alhamdulillah, after 16 years of attending Dar-us-Salaam’s part-time Hifzh program at the Qur’an Institute on weekends, 23-year-old Moussa Haddad has finally succeeded in making his Hifzh dream a reality. On Sunday, December 17th, 2023, Moussa celebrated his Hifzh graduation at Dar-us-Salaam.
How it All Began
“I started Qur’an Institute at 7-years-old learning the basics of reading, and step by step I went through all the phases until I finished my memorization Alhamdulillah,” said Moussa. “I want to thank my parents for their passion to instill the Arabic language and the Qur’an within me. I remember my mom used to always sit down with me and recite the Qur’an with me, and when I reached the age of 14 I officially began the Hifzh part of the program with the Qur’an Institute. My journey began with Habeeb Marso teaching me, and then Arif Kabir who helped me organize my Qur’an memorization schedule, and finally Ustadh Muhammad Nahavandi who saw me complete the Qur’an. Thank you also to my teachers Hayat Marso and Samir Kabir for guiding me with my memorization.”
This is Just the Start
“This isn’t the end of my journey, but rather just the start,” continued Moussa Haddad. “There’s so much more to do from here, and memorizing the Qur’an has been a stepping stone into my learning about the Qur’an and the Deen. I want to delve into the meanings of the Qur’an and Hadith, study the different Qira’at, and teach the Qur’an to others in shaa Allah. Alhamdulillah, I’ve already started teaching a few students at Muslim Community Center [in Silver Spring].”
Dar-us-Salaam congratulates Moussa Haddad and his family members on such an amazing accomplishment. May Allah continue to allow the light of the Qur’an to illuminate their lives.
