It’s always about progress not perfection. The Qur’an changes a person inside-out and takes our salaah to another level. The Qur’an Institute at Dar-us-Salaam offers many courses, including Khairukum, a free Ramadan reading program that organizes small groups led by a facilitator to encourage Qur’an reading during Ramadan.
This year, Khairukum was followed up by Summer Reading Circles, another program to facilitate Qur’an reading after Ramadan during the months of June, July and August. Classes were held on Zoom for free for one hour daily, and students chose between completing 5 juz, 15 juz or the entire 30 juz among the allotted time slots that best fit their schedules.
“They didn’t rush us even though it took us an extra hour to complete the juz. They allowed me to feel very comfortable, which is unusual for me when I recite around sisters that I’m not familiar with.”
“I am very grateful for being part of the Qur’an Institute’s reading circles. I completed the Qur’an with our group during Ramadan and in the Summer Reading Circles. It was such a benefit for me, because the facilitators were very patient and sincere. They didn’t rush us even though it took us an extra hour to complete the juz. They allowed me to feel very comfortable, which is unusual for me when I recite around sisters that I’m not familiar with.” Sister Marnice Williams said about her experience with the Qur’an Institute this year.
The Qur’an Institute strives to accommodate all ages, levels and learning styles.
“When I first took my shahada 28 years ago, I did take a class, but I found it very intimidating. I took a long break before trying another class again.” Sister Marnice Williams said.

The Qur’an Institute at Dar-us-Salaam is now a worldwide initiative. The goal is to spread Quranic literacy everywhere, so no Muslim is left behind from learning. Year-round enrollment is available with classes for reading, learning and memorization online with dedicated, qualified teachers at affordable rates. Classes plan to resume in-person at various branches while maintaining an online section, too, in shaa Allah.
Here are the current courses available for registration:
1. HIFZH CLUB – A fun-filled memorization club for kids aged 3 years to 7 years old that uses art, crafts and hands-on activities to keep your child engaged. Students learn the Arabic alphabet and Arabic numbers, short surahs, as well as stories from the Qur’an. It introduces and plants the seed of love for Allah that is so important for young children.
2. Arabic Immersion Classes – Arabic is the language of the Qur’an and a fun language to learn! This course teaches modern, classical Arabic for students who want to learn conversational Arabic. Classes are separated and available for boys and girls with ranges from ages 8 -18.
3. JUMP START CLASSES – If you would like your student to focus on memorizing and they are not yet reading, jump start classes may be the best fit! This class is open for both girls and boys (ages 7+ years) on weekdays (4pm-6pm). The fee: $55/month, or $495/year.
4. BRIDGE TO READING QURAN (LEVELS 1-4) Using the Al-Huda School curriculum, Bridge-to-Reading teaches strong reading skills. Level 1 begins with alphabet recognition and vowel markings and by level 4, students read pages independently from the mushaf. It utilizes Sr. Rola’s Arabic books which are based on the classical “Qa’idah Nurraniyah” with an added colorful twist.
5. MUSHAF READING CLASSES – Memorization is much easier when you can read fluently from the mushaf! This class is designed to get our readers to open any page and read it quickly and correctly. Mushaf reading is of 3 levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. It begins with basic reading and reminding of rules all the way to limited reminders and a complete reading of the entire Qur’an correctly. This course is open to ALL ages.
